Happy Election Day!

It's finally here! And this wood workin', country music listenin', power tool totin', Ohio-born girl with Southern roots is voting for Obama! At first glance, I'm sure it doesn't make sense to put all that together in one sentence but that's me! I'm proud to love Lee Greenwood and Hank Williams Jr songs AND be a card carrying Obama supporter.

Tonight, my kids and I are making election cookies and celebrating with that fizzy grape juice that looks like champagne (you caught me....THEY are drinking that, I'll have a gin and tonic.) Anyhow, we're decided that no matter what happens, we must make cookies. Partly because I'll need some comforting if Obama doesn't get in and I'll need a massive sugar party if he does where we all jump around like maniacs!

Happy Election Day to all of you!

Well then, I guess you jumped around like maniacs, and so did I. It's the first time ever that an American Presidential Election has such an impact on me and gives me such a surge of hope (the president, not the election).
I was home in Germany during your election night and my parents and I drank champaign on Obama and ignored all incoming phonecalls (my little sister was slightly offended) in celebration.
How were the cookies ? And the gin tonic ?

Julia, we SOOOOO jumped around like maniacs!! What an amazing night!! I, too, feel a renewed sense of hope and am so proud that America got it right this time. I was really nervous (almost sick) about it all the way up to election day.

I was actually going to write you to find out your viewpoint on the election (even though I had a sneaking suspicion that you were also in my corner). I'm so glad to hear you drank the bubbly with your parents in celebration. The cookies were the best I've had in years. And I think I ate a dozen myself in my euphoric state. As always, gin and tonic, always good!!
